Offbeat Pre-Wedding Shoot in Mumbai

We are sure you will find this pre-wedding shoot unusual and different from what you may have seen so far.  Well, if not entirely then in a great measure this was the first time we shot an intimate pre-wedding shoot. As couples increasingly look to do something different from the rest, they are ready to get out of their comfort zone and try new ideas. We feel the best way to do something is different is to personalise the shoot by letting the photographs depict your personality and story.

Omkar & Punita wanted an unusual and different pre-wedding shoot from the beginning. We brainstormed on many ideas ranging from basing it on their personality, shooting it entirely in a studio to even an intimate boudoir shoot. What finally we ended up doing was a mix of the usual to unusual. Hence photographs reflect their chemistry at Mumbai’s iconic Gateway of India, a comic re-enactment of how they met through their mutual friend – Pranav, their first kiss in a Kaali-Peeli and finally an intimate shoot in a beautiful property – Seven Sands Villa, in Lonavala which culminated with a re-staging of Tip Tip Barsa Pani from the movie Mohra. Location for the second half the pre-wedding was Seven-Sands Villa in Lonavala. Thanks to Vishal and Mrinal and their hospitality we had a hassle free shooting experience at their property.

Jasjeet and Anshadeep were very particular that they wanted their pre-wedding shoot in natural environment amidst scenic beauty, Moreover they wanted something closer to Mumbai, so Pawna lake in Lonavala came across as the obvious choice. So while we decided on Pawna to be our destination, we took full advantage of the natural treasures that lay en-route. As they say, journey is more beautiful than the destination. So, while you will see a lot of photographs are around Pawna Lake, a significant number were taken all over Lonavala. For this shoot we preferred environmental portraits than using different props as we didn’t want to keep the frames simple and more about the silent symphony of their chemistry and the splendid beauty of the nature.

Tulsi Vivaah: Pre Wedding Rituals

Tulsi Vivaah: Pre Wedding Rituals

Photography is a profession but the more personal you get, the better you can click. You get more receptive to the emotions around you and hence your lens capture them in the realest possible way. Like the trust the goes with a family physician it is good to be a family photographer for the same reasons. Nishita’s family is one that invests the trust it takes to capture the best moments at the biggest and the smallest of their family events in me. Having covered her grandparent’s Golden Jubilee Anniversary, I fit into their functions just like any other member of the family. As a photographer being a part of the celebrations gets you the best moments on shot. The real smiles, the real joy and the subtlest of the emotions are framed well.

Nishita is a graduate from New York and is now married to her long standing love Rohan, who she met in college.  In the Hindu tradition due to certain placement of the planet Mars, at the time of birth, it could lead to one being Mangalik. To cancel the power of that force, a pre-wedding ritual to marry a Tulsi plant (Holy Basil) is organized. The function is one of the marks of starting the wedding celebrations and the rituals hold a great value for the bride and the groom’s future wellbeing. Nishita and her family members celebrated the day with a zest, seeing the beginning of their lovely daughter stepping into a new life. Amidst the scenic beauty of a farmhouse in Lonavala all the ceremonies and smiles captured in the pictures speak for the excitement that everyone looks forward to for her wedding day.
