Marwari Wedding at Taj Lands End

Mugdhaa and Devam were destined to meet. They were working in the same company, but never came across each other. It was in the lockdown last year, they met through an arranged marriage match, set up by their parents. From the start itself, they had an instant connection. And therefore, it didn’t even take time, they got married in three months, from the time they started talking. And the energy and the happiness they bring out as a couple together, is totally infectious. You will get to see in the pictures! This was a beautiful Marwari Wedding at Taj Lands End, Mumbai.

The by-product of covid is that we can have real intimate events now. Considering the current covid scenario, the intimate weddings are here to stay. And that’s exactly what happened at Mugdhaa & Devam’s wedding.

This is our second outing at the property (also check Vishesh-Dhvani’s wedding). The first day was marked by Mehendi. As Mugdhaa sat putting mehendi, her mom, aunts and grandmother performed for her, even dancing on the songs Mugdhaa used to dance while she grew up. A lot of beautiful stories and anecdotes were shared, followed by smiles and happiness all around. The next day started with poojas and some rituals. This was a Marwari wedding, so we know there would be quite some rituals.

But everyone were excited about the evening, since it was the sangeet. Let us tell one thing – everyone in Mugdhaa’s family loves dancing, and despite everyone staying at different cities/countries, they were really prepped for the sangeet. The sangeet was absolutely amazing and magical. Mugdhaa surely won hearts with her solo performance on “Bawraa Mann”. Mugdhaa & Devam’s performance & Mugdhaa’s parents performances were also a highlight of the evening. This sangeet would surely be remembered by everyone in family and us for really a long time.

The finale day started with Haldi. and it was all yellow! A lot of happy and fun stories were created. The wedding was one beautiful affair, with Mugdhaa making entry on “Chaudhry” sung live by Mame Khan, followed by the stunning jaimaal ceremony. Mugdhaa’s parents decided to not do the kanyadaan ceremony as they don’t believe they can ever give up their daughter. We need more such examples in the world to set the narrative and break the stereotypes.

We are truly grateful to all the amazing people who were a part of #devamhuamugdh, especially Mugdhaa & Devam and both sets of the parents.Thank you for having us and all your love, support and encouragement. We recently lost Devam’s father due to covid, which is really unfair on God’s part. He was such a sweet & jovial person, and we have so many fond memories of him from the wedding, we will always remember him through the pictures.

We will always cherish the sweet memories of this wedding, and here is their photo-set below. But before you check the photos, check their beautiful wedding film which we made with a lot of love!

Jay & Hitali stand out among our couples in a lot of ways. From having complete faith in us to seeking our ideas for their wedding, our relationship extended far beyond the duties of a Wedding Photographer to being their Wedding Consultant. While Hitali conceptualised the wedding, Jay took care of the execution to the minutest of the details.

The saying that opposites attract couldn’t have been more true in Jay and Hitali’s case. While Hitali is a surgeon, Jay is a textile merchant, who jumped into the world of business from a very young age. This union of a successful textile merchant and surgeon was truly an elegant affair punctuated by emotional as well as playful moments.

Initially they planned to do a indoor wedding as many in their families thought it would be more comfortable indoors with the air conditioners around. But we suggested that they make the best use of their venue Corinthians Resort and do an Outdoor wedding and look how that turned out. We further suggested that they drop the usual stage like structure for weddings and instead try for a under the tree wedding. Fortunately there was a big tree and even the venue was surprised at the idea. It was their first wedding under the tree. We believe now with the proof of how beautiful a tree wedding could be more people reading our blog would be encouraged to try this out.

Jay & Hitali’s wedding functions were spread over two days at Corinthians Club and Resort in Pune. They wanted a destination wedding and yet someplace which was easily accessible. Being from Mumbai, Corinthians seemed a great choice and we couldn’t agree more. Scroll down to see the photo-set 🙂

While you go through the photos, keep an eye out for glimpses of all the minute details they planned out to customise everything from decor to their ensemble and look for added extra personal touch. Whether it is Hitali’s jewelry (nath) to her outfits and Mehandi or Jay’s phone cover to cuff seams, they had personal touches everywhere.

Somewhere deep in the lockdown phase last year, Deepak contacted us from Ireland. A few calls and a zoom meeting later with both Deepak & Pooja, we were on-board. From there on, its been an incredible journey with them!

Deepak & Pooja’s story started in the lockdown phase itself, with an arranged marriage match. Soon in about four months, they had made the decision. And as they say, when its meant to be, then everything falls in place!

What would remain with us throughout is how warm these two were in the whole process. And of course they look so adorable together, with a very ethereal and effortless chemistry. They were also open to many suggestions that we had to offer. And Infact the biggest one was to do a wedding in the outdoors. We made them realize that the difference would be really huge compared to doing the wedding indoors, and they in turn went about in convincing their parents. Together, they supported whole-heartedly in the vision we had for their wedding. And the result is for you all to see here.

South indian weddings are generally beautiful – with the pretty kanjeevarams, the immersive and significant rituals, the early morning light and the happiness all around. In this wedding, we got more than that. The best part was how both Deepak and Pooja reached out to each other, and always had a playful way of smiling, teasing and looking at each other. When you enjoy your wedding rituals so much, the pictures definitely talk about them. Here is their wedding blog story, scroll down to see the happiness & love. The beautiful and newly opened Janki Resorts played a great host as well.

Thank you Deepak & Pooja for having us, we hope to see you in some part of the world, someday soon!

Intimate Nikaah in Mumbai

The first meeting we had with Jehan at the cafe at Taj Lands End, she won us over with her smile and endless charm. She is like sunshine, carrying her sparks wherever she goes.

Jehan shares, “We had a cliched first meeting at a club where Farhan approached me when I was waiting for my friends at the end of the night. But, despite serious efforts on his part to strike a conversation with me, I remained pretty reserved and, of course, we lost touch quite quickly. But, I think destiny had other plans for us as 10 months later we bumped into each other again at a common friend’s place! And from then, there was no separating us as we started chatting regularly. Distance also played a great role in cementing our relationship as I had to fly to London for an assignment which extended unexpectedly. Unhindered by the distance, Farhan and I used to talk every day, and gradually, before we knew it, we were in love! And, eight months later we tied the knot.”

For their wedding venues, the duo decided to go local and chose popular properties that would cater to their every whim. However, for their nikah, the chose to go traditional with a mosque and a home ceremony. For the mehndi and haldi, the Otters Club in Bandra was chosen for its laid back and fun atmosphere. The glamorous reception was hosted at the Gallops Mahalaxmi and the Walimah took place at the sprawling JVPD Grounds.

From an uneventful first meeting to a magical wedding proposal, Jehan and Farhan’s journey of love culminated in a beautiful wedding. And this will always be remembered by us for a very long time because this was our last wedding, before Covid-19 entered our lives and wedding scenes.

Rishika Lohit – Tennis Player Rishika’s Wedding at Vijayawada

Rishika Lohit – Tennis Player Rishika’s Wedding at Vijayawada

Rishika Lohit – Tennis Player Rishika’s Wedding at Vijayawada

A love-story unlike any where India’s Lawn-Tennis champion Rishika was  won over by an IITian and Data Scientist – Lohit.

Rishika and Lohit, first came in contact through their parents. Being a professional Tennis player, Rishika’s parents were finding it difficult to look for a good match for her. Their initial thought was to look for proposals from boys settled in US and hence Rishika parent’s decided to send her for Lawn Tennis training for a whole year to US, just to see if she would like US to settle in. By the time Rishika started liking US, the destiny had Lohit for her who was based in Hyderabad itself.  They started texting each other and hit it off immediately. The first thing she noticed was their shared sense of humor as she puts it, “He laughs at my lame jokes”. You will get a better glimpse in their chemistry from their film itself.

Lohit, on his part, was armed by the information passed on by his parents, and a few google searches knew that Rishika was a catch! Meanwhile, Lohit was charmed by Rishika’s humility and down to earth nature and decided that she was The One. So when she returned home from the US and met him for the very first time at the airport, he proposed!

In her own words, this is how the crazy proposal went –

“When we finally were going to meet, we both were so nervous, we barely slept that night. We knew the connection was strong but the fact that we never saw each other and wanted things to be exactly how we are imagining it to be made us feel that way. Fortunately, things did turn out the way we wanted and the connection was true! He proposed on day 2 with a no-option-answer, as his note said – “Will you marry me”? 1. Yes, 2. Not no.”

The first event we covered for the two was at Tatipaka. The ceremony was called Pellikoduku and started early in the morning. Purifying the groom was the purpose of this ceremony. Lohit, dressed in a sherwani-chudiar attire, saw his outfit quickly change colors as he got covered in oodles of turmeric paste, flowers and water. A fun scene indeed!

Day two began with shooting the Mehendi Ceremony at Vijayawada. This was followed by Sangeet, where the couple, with friends and family in tow, danced the night away.

The duo looked picture perfect with Rishika dolled up in a Peachy-colored Lehenga and Lohit in a Nehru jacket and Kurta-Chudidar. We were so thrilled to capture them having an absolute blast. Their beaming faces and wide smiles just spoke volumes about the fun they had!

The next day’s ceremony, called Pellikuturu, was held for the bride and took place at Vijayawada as well. With daybreak yet to happen, the ceremony began at 5.30 am. Rishika was a vision in pastel-colored Kanchi Saree, accompanied by flowers that adorned her and completed the look.

Following this, the Wedding took place in the evening, at the SS Convention Hall, and continued late into the midnight, ending with the Muhuratam Ceremony.

For the wedding, Rishika had dressed to the nines and looked every bit the South Indian belle in a red Kanchi Saree. No less was Lohit, who looked just as dashing in a red and beige Sherwani Chudi suit!  Together, they made up for some lovely couple shots!

Amidst the chaos of the wedding, our sporty bride kept her spirits high and flying. The funky photo-shoot we had with her friends is a testimony of just that.

The wedding came to an end with the Vratam Pooja, which was held at Hyderabad. Starting relatively late, at 7.30 am, we captured the couple taking part in the function with Rishika decked up in Kanchi Saree again and Lohit, in a Kurta and Chudidar piece, as they headed for the home run.

We truly enjoyed covering this wedding. The beauty of the coastal Andhara, replete with its overarching Palm trees, endless green cover and traditional homes has shone through our photos. Our time spent with the duo was an enriching experience. We got to immerse ourselves in their culture once more, after covering Rishika’s cousin’s Saket and Sri Lakshmi’s Wedding at Vijaywada in 2018 and witnessing the joys and nuances of a traditional Telegu Wedding. Thank you for choosing us again, we wish you both a healthy and happy married life!
