Maharashtrian Wedding in Mumbai

“From the time we saw the work done by KnotsbyAMP on their Instagram page, we knew these guys were great. Now we couldn’t be any happier for choosing them to capture such an important day in our lives. Each time we go through the pictures, our hearts are filled with so much joy and unknowingly we cherish all the beautiful moments from our wedding day. There are good photos and then there those photos that make you relive each and every moment from that special day. The pictures clicked by KnotsbyAMP fall in the latter category. All thanks to them that we get to relive our wedding day, time and again through all those beautiful moments they have captured. They are definitely the best wedding photographers in Mumbai.”
– Ankur & Akshata

There are some people whom you meet and instantly connect with them, as if you knew them since ages. The same thing happened to us with Ankur & Akshata. After chatting and hanging out with them over calls, Anupam and I, first met them some time in August last year in a quaint little cafe in South Mumbai. As it rained and we sipped our coffees, we got into talking about how they were planning their big day. We also got to know their story and were naturally quite excited to shoot their wedding. They had already seen our work and were very convinced about it. Such warm people that they were, that it felt more like a friend’s wedding planning rather. As the conversation shaped its way ahead, they eventually finalized us for their wedding.

The day of wedding started with Ankur & Akshata getting ready at Ramee Guestline Hotel in Dadar, Mumbai. What a beautiful day it was and we made the most of it. Ankur & Akshata got ready in their respective hotel rooms, and we started capturing them. Their friends and family were around and actively took part in all the getting ready process that was happening. Akshata got ready in a royal yellow saree paired with a red blouse. She complimented her look with a beautiful choker jewelry set. We loved how she kept her look minimalist and simple, but how gorgeous and elegant this girl looked! Her friends were very right in joking around that Ankur will go awestruck and speechless when he sees her, and we kept wondering what it would be when that happens. Ankur looked dapper in his cream sherwani. We quickly made his portraits, as he had to leave first for the wedding venue. Akshata also had the best girls as bridesmaids, and they deserve a special mention. They impatiently waited for their bestie to be dressed up as a bride. And when she finally got ready, they were all amazed in awe. What followed were some amazing photos with the bride and her bridesmaids, and literally captured the happiness around. By the time we finished the portraits with the girls, the groom had already reached the wedding venue. It was time for the bride to make an entry. One of the special memories from the was that we headed to wedding venue with the bride and her bestie, in our car. And that was really fun!

Akshata made an entry, amidst dhol playing and people dancing. Ankur was sitting on the mandap. And the moment their eyes met, it was like witnessing pure love. It was the day, a decade long love story was culminating to a forever story, and the love and happiness around was lit in every way. We got to witness cute moments unfold throughout the wedding, Ankur could not take his eyes off Akshata, and all of it somehow made our work easier. They got married, in the beautiful golden hour and everything felt just magical. The wedding was followed by an evening reception. But, as they say, words always fail to describe feelings, and for the same reasons, we have pictures. So here you go now – #ankgothispai is all for you to see now!

Maharashtrian Wedding at Exotica Retreat

We met while interning at PayPal. We hung out with a different set of friends for the most time. But as one fateful evening would have it, we were the only ones left behind at work trying to finish some pending work. We had talked before, but this evening was the first time we had a conversation. We became friends. We are sure you watch movies…rom-coms, so you know how such stories proceed. Love happened and love grew! We always placed career first at every juncture of our journey; at the end our internship, at the end of the semester that followed, and also after graduation. Ready to part ways after graduation, but holding the torch of love lit, we focussed on our job search. But fate played its master stroke when we both got jobs in the same city, New York. Well, then spending endless amount of time together over movies, dinners, concerts, comedy shows etc brought us even closer. Once we were sure about each other, we met each others’ parents as friends. In December 2017, we decided to make it official and informed our families. Not surprisingly, our families accepted our choices with open arms.

And almost one year later, Abhishek & Mayuri got married at the Exotica Retreat, Yeoor Hills, Thane.

The most apt description of the Exotica Retreat would be “very close to nature” feels. Mayuri also stated in her interview that she chose this particular place for her wedding because it is so serene, green and peaceful, and located in the city. It is an open-air venue, with the mandap area surrounded by water on two sides. And, how we loved the place. We feel a visual tour to this beatiful place is necessary here. And here you go,

Let’s start with their soulful wedding film with all the right feels:

It was a beautiful maharashtrian wedding. What started with getting ready at the goregeous rooms, namely Peshwai & Maharana  in the Exotica Retreat ended with all all happy moments and smiles. Thanks to this amazing couple for making us a part of their wedding. Here you go with their wedding story through our captures.

Maharashtrian Wedding in Goa

Maharashtrian Wedding in Goa

Maharashtrian Wedding in Goa

This rainy season, a wedding blog story of a monsoon wedding we shot in Goa the previous month!

Sai & Trupti got married at La Brise in Goa, and the pre wedding functions happened at Novotel Shrem, Goa. A beautifully planned wedding, where we saw non stop fun happening for three days. The first day began with a beautiful couple shoot in one the most serene beaches of Goa. The next day started with Haldi. Well played by family & friends, it was a crazy affair. We had to save our cameras and lenses from the yellow hues. The night ended with a beautiful sangeet, where the bride, groom & the friends nailed with their stupendous performance. The bride specially performed on“Nazar jo teri lagi main deewani ho gayi and the entire audience were enthralled. A destination wedding is all about having fun, Sai & Trupti made sure that was the main essence of the wedding.

The wedding day started pretty early. The wedding was to happen as per maharashtrian rituals. It was raining very heavily since morning. All of us hoped together that the rains stop soon. But that didnt happen! The wedding was safely planned indoors in La Brise (expecting the behaviour of the Weather Gods). But post the wedding, there was a ring exchange planned right at the Candolim Beach, and it was just beautiful. Over time we have realised, wedding happiness beats all adverse situations e.g. rains, bad weather etc. Wedding Planners Goa did a fantastic job with the decor & planning!

Checkout the photo-set below! Thank you Sai & Trupti for letting us document your big day! 🙂

A Cross Border Maharashtrian Wedding at Dhepe Wada

A Cross Border Maharashtrian Wedding at Dhepe Wada

A Cross Border Maharashtrian Wedding at Dhepe Wada

This wedding season we were lucky enough to shoot three beautiful cross border weddings. And here goes the first one of the lot – The wedding story of Sid & Dori. Our Indian groom and his german bride are big time parkour enthusiasts and that’s how their love story started, and some unbelievable stunt photographs would follow in this series. Excited much?

The groom belongs to a maharashtrian family, and wanted a wedding where he could showcase the cultural greatness, richness and variety to his german bride, her parents and her extended family. So the venue chosen was Dhepe WadaLocated at Girivan in Mulshi,  Dhepe Wada is one-of-a-kind heritage homes designed to experience the 350-year-old Maharashtrian wada culture, in all its elegance and glory. It reminisces of the old peshwai era of the past which has relevance even today in the form of its  architecture and minutest details. And what followed was a dreamy private wedding, soaked in the beautiful maharshtrian traditions displaying the love & faith of two simple souls, and all their joys & happiness. Truly love knows no boundaries and warms up your heart! We are truly indebted and thankful to you two for choosing us to capture & document your special day!

Maharashtrian Celebrity Wedding in Mumbai

Maharashtrian Celebrity Wedding in Mumbai

Maharashtrian Celebrity Wedding in Mumbai

This is the story where one of the most loved couple of Telly town, took their relationship from reel to real life. TV actors Mugdha Chapekar and Ravish Desai got married on 14th December, 2016 at Flags Avante Garde, Mumbai in a private ceremony attended by family and close friends. We were the official photographers covering the beautiful maharashtrian wedding followed by a reception later in the evening.

Mugdha looked gorgeous in a baby pink chanderi silk saree, followed by a yellow Navvari and gold jewellery. The dapper groom opted for a kurta and silk safa with blue feather before changing into a white sherwani.  The wedding was also covered widely by media and various wedding portals viz. ZoWed, Weddingz.in, Bollywood Shaadi, thebridestory, TimesofIndia, etc.

All in all, how we loved shooting this celebrity couple who looked stunning, overjoyed and more importantly, so much in love.

For the Reception, Mugdha wore a stunning golden lehenga while Ravish chose a grand nawabi. Her twirling shots are pure delight to the eyes. The reception also saw the presence of some of the veterans from the film industry. We wish the lovely couple truck loads of happiness for the new journey of their lives! Over to the pictures from their special day.

Maharashtrian Black and White Wedding

Maharashtrian Black and White Wedding

Maharashtrian Black and White Wedding

An entire wedding captured in black and white, this project is a first in itself. Oh yes, our long cherished wish to add a full black and white wedding to our portfolio is finally fulfilled. This idea had been high on our minds for a long time but finding a client who could be equally excited about it wasn’t easy and it didn’t happen for a long time. But then if you really want something, as SRK said, the whole world will conspire to make it possible. Well it wasn’t exactly like that, it was much simpler. We suggested the idea to Ameya and Anuradha which they gladly allowed us to execute.

Ameya and Anuradha had an early morning Maharashtrian wedding followed by a quick reception where everything got done by 5 pm. Sweet! Let’s have a quick look at the story of our bride and groom.

Love that inspires, invigorates hope and redefines everything said about ‘being together’, is the kind of love that the universe conspires to ‘make it happen’.

Anuradha and Ameya’s love story began at St. Xavier’s  College in Mumbai, under the magnificent arches, evolved over cups of tea, grew over pieces of Indian classical music and lived through the winds of long distance. Standing the time of six years, they decided to take the plunge in May 2016. Ameya, an MBA student at Harvard Business School and Anuradha soon to pursue Human Resources at University of South Carolina, recollect their early days spent at a tiny chai shop called ‘tum-tum’ in the busy streets of Crawford market in Mumbai. Making time to meet each other, before the city woke-up, is how their love grew through tough times.  It was a moment of great joy for their friends and family, who stood witness to this love story, couldn’t believe that it was finally happening.

At AMP we make these little emotions and efforts come alive. We tell a story that grows over a decade, in the expressions captured in one day, some times in half a day! The couple embraced all the traditional rituals of a Maharashtrian wedding and experienced them with a lot of fun.

While Anuradha was hustling with wedding preparations here in Mumbai, Ameya barely had anytime as he just finished a year at Harvard and flew down to India just in time to get married! For her wedding rituals Anuradha chose all Kanjeevaram sarees as she is half Tamilian and half Maharashtrian and for her reception she wore a beautiful blue lacha. In the makeup room as the makeup artist went about brushing compound on her face she was anxiously waiting for Ameya to arrive. Her room was filled with her best friends going gaga over her look. Anuradha was a gushing bride who cheerfully made her way through the wedding smiling and waving to everyone. Ameya was equally exuberant and he looked dapper in a silk kurta and a traditional pagdi made famous by Bal Gangadhar Tilak. Every photograph expresses the enthusiasm they had for this long awaited day.  When the emotions are so vivid, they speak a volume for themselves. So here we present a reel of retro images of this ever charming couple who helped us fulfill our long cherished wish to add a full black and white wedding, to our portfolio.

We at AMP strive to make our photographs unique and create what the couple feels most connected with. Creating a Black and White wedding album, demands a great amount of precision in handling the lights such that we get good contrast, which is essential for these photographs to capture the essence of such a high-spirited wedding. It has not even been a week and we edited the photographs.

It was interesting how we ended up doing Anuradha and Ameya’s wedding! At Kanan and Nirav’s wedding, yet another couple from Xavier’s whose wedding we covered in December, we met Anuradha.  She appreciated our work and started a conversation to craft their wedding.”At their wedding we met Jyotika’s parents and refreshed our memories of shooting Jyotika’s wedding in Bangalore just four days ago. The world is indeed a small place and we are getting close enough to becoming the ‘Favorite’ among Xavierites. Four Xavierite weddings and counting!

As always we have tried to be as non-invasive as possible with a strong documentary approach with great candid photographs. Hope our attempt to create something different appealed to you in the same breath as it excited us. If this excited you enough to have similar photographs of your wedding, then we are just a mail away. You can reach out to us at [email protected] and let us do the thinking to create your story.
