A Cross Border Maharashtrian Wedding at Dhepe Wada

This wedding season we were lucky enough to shoot three beautiful cross border weddings. And here goes the first one of the lot – The wedding story of Sid & Dori. Our Indian groom and his german bride are big time parkour enthusiasts and that’s how their love story started, and some unbelievable stunt photographs would follow in this series. Excited much?

The groom belongs to a maharashtrian family, and wanted a wedding where he could showcase the cultural greatness, richness and variety to his german bride, her parents and her extended family. So the venue chosen was Dhepe WadaLocated at Girivan in Mulshi,  Dhepe Wada is one-of-a-kind heritage homes designed to experience the 350-year-old Maharashtrian wada culture, in all its elegance and glory. It reminisces of the old peshwai era of the past which has relevance even today in the form of its  architecture and minutest details. And what followed was a dreamy private wedding, soaked in the beautiful maharshtrian traditions displaying the love & faith of two simple souls, and all their joys & happiness. Truly love knows no boundaries and warms up your heart! We are truly indebted and thankful to you two for choosing us to capture & document your special day!

Destination Wedding in Hua Hin, Thailand

Destination Wedding in Hua Hin, Thailand

Destination Wedding in Hua Hin, Thailand

It is not everyday that you cover an Olympian’s wedding. We had the good fortune of covering Neha Aggarwal’s wedding, an Olympian who represented India in Table Tennis in Beijing Olympics at the age of 18 in 2008. The ace player got hitched to a businessman and erstwhile TT player Shubham Sharma from Hyderabad. Their wedding was a beautiful destination wedding at Sheraton Hua Hin, Thailand.  So let’s begin with a small teaser of their wedding.

The wedding festivities were spread over 3 days with people attending the wedding from all over the world. The Sharma and Aggarwal family wanted to throw a grand wedding where everyone can have non-stop fun and the obvious choice was the popular destination of Thailand, a country which has become a favourite with Indians for its spectacular natural beauty, hospitality and easy accessibility from all major cities of India. Hua Hin a popular coastal city, 3 hours away from Bangkok has some beautiful 5 star hotel and resorts and Sheraton Hua Hin has the distinction of hosting most number of Indian weddings than any other property in Thailand.

As soon as the guests landed at the gates of the hotel, they were greeted by the traditional Thai dancers with Sharma and Aggarwal family ready to welcome them. For us the real thing started with the bride’s Mehendi in her suite. As soon as we entered her room an excited Neha greeted us with a wide grin and at that moment we knew we are going to have a great time covering this wedding.

Following the Mehendi we took some fun photographs outside where she jumped, she smiled and even posed with a TT racket for us! Soon the evening arrived and the sea facing lawns overlooking the pool were decorated for the Mehendi function where cocktails flowed and the bride and groom made an entry on a ATV vehicle. The DJ and the music kept rolling and people danced throughout the night. Now normally the day would end there, but it was followed with a black after party in the Resort’s club. As soon as the door the club opened a dancer welcomed people with her seductive moves. It was a sight to behold where one dancer was swaying on a swing and another was dancing in a big metal cage.  While we could go on and on about the after party we feel its best left for the photos to do the talking as they say a good photograph is worth more than a thousand words.

The second day started with Haldi ceremony of the bride and the groom which was followed quickly by a bohemian themed pool party. A carnival set up offered people chilled coconut water in the scorching heat. But the highlight remained the Table Tennis game between the bride and the groom! Any guesses who won?

Then came the evening and the grand ballroom was lit with lights and a grand stage was set for the Sangeet night. The groom arrived and soon was surrounded by pretty ladies all over. He made his way to the stage and while he  performed the ceremonies he waited for his bride anxiously. As soon as the bride arrived, all eyes were set on her. Both the families took the stage by storm and it was a beautiful spectacle with some great light work by the lights team. Pink Palki, the event organisers did a brilliant job with the decoration and setup. Once the performances ended, the DJ took over and people danced till late in the morning.

The third day started with Gaur Pooja  and post lunch the bride and groom went for a relaxing spa. After all a trip to Thailand is incomplete without experiencing the Thai spa. Immediately after the bride and the groom left to get ready for their big day and their excitement was palpable that it spread to us. The bride made her entry with her brothers and father. It was an emotional moment when her father held her hand and walked her to the mandap. Sparkles lined up their entry and a cute little girl held the sign board – Here comes the bride. The bride and grooms eye met during as she climbed the staircase for the JaiMaal. The groom popped a bottle of champagne post the Jaimaal. Finally they took the pheras in a beautiful Hindu ceremony and when it finally came to Neha’s bidai it was yet another emotional moment. She got ferried in a Thai style Palanquin and she also danced her way through the journey and thus this beautiful wedding marked a new beginning in Neha and Shubham’s new #MixedDoublesForever journey!

KnotsbyAMP founders : Bengali Wedding

KnotsbyAMP founders : Bengali Wedding

Here is our story, in our own words! 🙂

Anupam – Being a wedding photographer, I was quite excited about my own wedding, and I had tons of ideas, but back then Soumi wanted a simple wedding, her only concern was to be dressed as a typical Bengali bride so we went along with what the bride needed. Being the most experienced person with respect to weddings, most responsibilities regarding planning came on to me. One thing I was clear on was that I wanted both families to stay in the same place for two days and have all the functions in one big venue, so we settled down for a RTISC Sports club in Navi Mumbai, which had ample of choices of having an open-air wedding and also banquets for indoor functions like Sangeet and cocktail. However not all things go as expected in a wedding, and we had problems with the default decorator of the venue. Apart from that we didn’t worry about other things going here and there, and just made sure we enjoy our wedding along with our friends and family. For photography we had our team to care of all aspects.

Soumi –  I always wanted to be a bengali bride. This was a distinct wish right from my childhood. And when the time came, I told Anupam about it. I am really glad that he agreed, or he had no choice either (laughs)! We also agreed on having a single wedding (rather than two, Bengali and UP wedding in our case). Luckily, both our parents agreed as well. Then started the real wedding planning. I was lucky  about the fact that I didn’t have to worry about the photography & cinematography. So for me the major lookout areas were the makeup & clothes. For makeup, I booked Ishwari from Ish Bridal Make-up. Bengali brides have this typical forehead design, and the fact that she had covered bengali brides before gave me a lot of comfort. And she did a fabulous job! For my wedding attire, I wanted the red benarasi saree and we got that from Paaneri, Dadar. I wanted a saree because time and again, I can wear it and cherish the wedding memories forever. The wedding days passed away in jiffy, but one thing which me and Anupam ensured was to have a lot of fun and that’s exactly what has been captured in the photographs. Not only us, but our friends, families and the relatives let their hair down and totally enjoyed the wedding at RTISC Sports Club in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai. And when I saw the photos and the wedding film, I literally cried, out of happiness. It was overwhelming in every way. You actually get to know the wedding emotions when you see your own wedding photos and film. That joy is different, like living the day through the photos & film. And I am really lucky that Team KnotsbyAMP did such an amazing job!

Before you proceed for the photos, watch our small lil film – Love By Chance!

South Indian Wedding at Temple Tree Leisure, Bangalore

South Indian Wedding at Temple Tree Leisure, Bangalore

South Indian Wedding at Temple Tree Leisure, Bangalore

2017 has been most generous to us, where we met and captured some of the most amazing people, and Krishna & Akanksha happened to be right up there. Krishna who happens to be my batchmate from BITS Pilani is an easy going and chilled out person who fell for Akanksha’s charm, while working together in the office. Despite their contrasting personalities, they mingle like salt in water. So when the bride and groom have such amazing chemistry and understanding we are also at our best and we are happy it all showed in the photographs.

Akanksha and Krishna did the whole wedding planning by themselves and chose TempleTree Leisure in Bangalore as the venue for their wedding. TempleTree is one of the finest venue in Bangalore alongside The Tamarind Tree and Ganjam Mandap. We have shot Shruti-Akhil’s and Swati-Yash’s wedding at Ganjam Mantapa earlier. Particularly outstanding is the floral decoration done at the property on the morning of the wedding. The wedding celebration kicked off with EduruKolu where both the sides tried coaxing the other to step forward and meet at a common point. This was followed with a sparkling display of cold-pyro behind which they exchanged rings. Soon after as the crowd settled down the dance performances by the family set the stage on fire. But the highlight remained the solo and duet performances of Akanksha and Krishna with the crowd cheering their lungs out. Krishna had to re-perform on popular demand. People kept partying and dancing till everyone called it a night.

The wedding started early with Kashi Yatra. The groom was dressed in the traditional White Dhoti and bride looked pretty in a green Kancheevaram. The entire venue was decorated with lines of marigold and Diyas which created a surreal traditional look. Throughout the wedding Krishna and Akanksha kept enjoying themselves and that was the best aspect of the whole wedding. Shooting the wedding in the daylight at peak afternoon was a difficult task, we wish the sun was a little easier on us. Nevertheless, we loved the photographs and we leave you with them for your feedback.

Let’s peep into Akanksha and Krishna’s wedding directly and then follow it up with their first day 🙂

P.S. : Watch out for the moment when Akanksha’s peeps to have a look at Krishna’s Kashi Yatra.

Another Bitsian wedding, where the bride & groom were both Bitsians! Also, the photographer (Anupam) & the make-up-artist (Kanupriya) were also Bitsians! So this was a big fat Bitsian Party!

Ila & Rushil’s love story began when they were in BITS, Pilani. And thereafter a decade of being together, they decided to take the plunge. A North (Rushil)-meets-South(Ila) story culminated into a holy matrimony as per south indian rituals. That’s the beauty of indian weddings, at the end of the day, it doesnt matter whether it was north or south, all that matters is the love & the happiness of the couple & the families! Here is one such story of love, scroll down for the set of photographs!

Punjabi Wedding in Mumbai

A Punjabi Wedding hardly needs an introduction. So we will keep it short here.

Jasjeet is Anupam’s batchmate from BITS Pilani. Jasjeet & Ansh are one couple, who are really very easy to approach and very fun to be with. No wonder we had such a great time shooting them. They got married in a gurudwara and it was a swirl of emotions & happiness throughout the families. But before the wedding, the bride & groom had their pre-wedding festivities at home and they made the most of it. Now, here goes the photographs.
