We cherish capturing and sharing vibrant wedding stories from different parts of India, especially during the hectic wedding season. Sometimes, we miss out on sharing some incredible moments due to the influx of new weddings. This story from a year ago features the traditional Sindhi wedding of Vishesh and Priyanka at the renowned Sun and Sand hotel in Nagpur. Celebrating their first anniversary recently, Priyanka, a Chartered Accountant from Indore, and Vishesh, an IT engineer working in the U.S., chose Nagpur as their wedding destination to honor their roots and perform Sindhi wedding rituals.

Sangeet Ceremony: A Night of Dance and Music

The pre-wedding festivities were marked by separate Sangeet ceremonies for the bride and groom, a highlight of Sindhi cultural celebrations. We captured the groom’s Sangeet, which also included his thread ceremony. The night was filled with lively music and energetic dances, challenging us to capture every moment without missing a beat. The intense energy required us to navigate through the crowd, getting up close to capture the candid moments that define the spirit of a Sangeet ceremony.

Capturing the Spirit of Sindhi Wedding Rituals

The following day, the baraat commenced under the harsh May sun in Nagpur, presenting unique challenges for wedding photography. Despite the blazing heat, the enthusiasm of the guests dancing was infectious. We strategically waited for the procession to move under the shade before capturing the perfect shots, demonstrating how critical understanding light and shadow is in photography. Using reflectors or flashes with ND filters can also help manage the bright conditions, ensuring that every photo looks its best.

The Wedding Ceremony and Reception

After the baraat, the groom proceeded to the bride’s room for a small, laughter-filled ceremony before moving to the Mandap. The main wedding ceremony was a picturesque event, where Priyanka looked stunning in her red lehenga, complemented by golden jewelry, and Vishesh looked dapper in his white sherwani. The reception that followed featured the couple making a grand entrance, with the night sky illuminated by fireworks, highlighting the grandeur of their arranged marriage, which seemed as natural as if they had known each other for ages.

Capturing Moments Beyond the Wedding

The couple’s chemistry was palpable, making our post-reception photography session even more special. We recreated moments of a fairy-tale ball dance and a romantic date within the hotel premises, capturing the love and joy of their special day. The effort paid off with beautiful photographs that they will cherish forever.
