Muslim Wedding in Kashmir

Muslim Wedding in Kashmir

Muslim Wedding in Kashmir

Ain had always dreamt of a man who’d be halal, i.e. genuine, warm and accepting of her. Sarmad too had a dream woman in his mind – someone down to earth, simple, and not materialistic. It was a sheer stroke of destiny how these two, who had met at the birthday party of a mutual friend during college, kept in touch and separated, only to meet again, years later!

Though Sarmad had shown his interest in Ain during college itself, she had remained focused on her studies and the distance grew them apart. Flash forward to a few years later, a friend asks Ain about Sarmad’s marital status for herself, which leads to Ain inquiring him. The two get talking, sparks fly and they decide to get married in turn!

When we received the news of them getting hitched, we were beyond thrilled. This meant covering another wedding in the valley, after Ain’s sister, Hafsa’s Wedding, which we had covered four years ago and kept in touch with them ever since. From then on, Ain loved our work, always encouraging us and stating that when it would be her turn to marry, she’d definitely hire us. And true to her words, she did!

We were in Kashmir during the communication shutdown situation, we were challenged. Nonetheless, we persevered and witnessed, as well as captured, a beautifully done Kashmiri Wedding. Following is their love story, in shots. Before you scroll down to check them out, catch some glimpses of the god’s paradise that is Kashmir!

You might have noticed that we put up a picture of Ain’s decked-up home in the post as well. That’s because the beautifully decorated home with its humongous size and architecture had us so bowled out that we couldnt help but be awed. Legend has it that homes like these can accomodate close to 200 people in the living room itself! For this very reason, we couldn’t resist capturing it and decided to let you have a look as well! The wedding, or Nikah, took place in the evening at Moghal Mahal. It was an Asalatan Nikah, which meant that the bride and all her female relatives were on one side while the groom and all his male relatives were on the other with a curtain placed between the two as a partition.  Ain’s entry was marked with Wanwun, which were traditional folk songs sung by the womenfolk in the room, to honor the occasion. The Qazi recited Quranic verses, asked for the consent from both sides and then prayed for the newlyweds.  Looking back, we realize that our bride’s wedding ensemble was nothing short of artwork! Ain was truly pretty as a picture in an ensemble that was encrusted with beads, pearls, and sequins. She paired the cream-colored outfit beautifully with stunning blue jewelry set, complete with meenakari and polki work. Just as handsome was our groom Sarmad, who wore a black sherwani and grey churidars, accessorized with an embroidered pashmina with intricate Kalamkaari work and a grey sehra. The final Ceremony, called Satim Doh was held on the seventh day of the wedding. For this occasion, Ain wore a teal blue gharara with a lemon-colored dupatta, hand-embroidered in zari and dabka work. Sarmad went with a deep bottle-green kurta from Vikas Makhija with white churidars and a printed Nehru jacket. Guests from the bride’s family were invited over for a feast at the groom’s house and Wazwan was served here as well. Scroll down to see this beautiful wedding set 🙂

Christian Hindu Church Wedding at Alila Diwa, Goa

Christian Hindu Church Wedding at Alila Diwa, Goa

Christian Hindu Church Wedding at Alila Diwa, Goa

First wedding shoot of this season commenced with this beautiful wedding in Goa. This couple had the best time of their lives and got married as per two traditions — Church wedding & Indian wedding. The Church Wedding follows in this one!

The venue for this grand destination wedding was Alila Diwa, Goa. Surrounded by greenery, an infinity pool, this polished hotel has high vaulted ceilings and wooden work throughout, offering a stylish take on a traditional decor.

The bride is a perfect blend of being all classy, beautiful and modest, at the same time. And no wonder, her impeccable choice reflected in every aspect of her wedding. Bride’s sister & her sister-in-law practically never left her side and were her Maids of Honour. Her Bridesmaids were color coordinated in blue. The groom is very shy on the other hand, rather we should say camera-shy. But the story gets different with a few pegs down, as evidently seen. The couple were classmates and have been in a decade long relationship, and they just look adorably cute together!

The Church Wedding happened at Our Lady of Remedios Church, Betalbalim Goa. We love shooting church weddings. Churches are very special and there are certain things about a church wedding, which you wouldn’t get anywhere. The best part is that you can make amazing vows and promises for your new journey totally engulfed in peace and serenity, which we totally evidenced and captured. The groom made a stylish entry in a vintage ford car and left the church with his newly wed bride in the same car and we were all amazed!

The celebrations for the day ended with an after party! There were speeches, karaoke, singing, dancing and rock n roll  in the beautifully decorated lawn in Alila Diwa. Both the families have known each other since a very long time, and there was so much ease and comfort in their interactions. Hats of to an amazing planning and execution! Everything proceeded just as planned, as the functions were simplified by keeping only the key functions. But, before we conclude, wait for the next blog to see their beautiful Indian Wedding in detail.

If you loved the beautiful church wedding in the previous blog story of Megh & Jive, you have something more to see! This time its the beautiful Indian wedding at Alila Diwa, Goa!

The beautiful bride was dressed in a beige chikankari lehenga, and the groom was looking ravishing a white sherwani. And a equally beautiful mandap decor with flowers to host the indian wedding. Everything was so beautiful and as the couple read over the vows & promises to each, they started their new journey with all – love, trust & understanding! And the happiness was infectious & spread all around, right from their familes, friends and all the guests present. Even to us, and we thank the couple for trusting us to capture the memories of their precious day!

Christian wedding in Navi Mumbai

Christian wedding in Navi Mumbai

Christian wedding in Navi Mumbai

This time around we got an opportunity to cover the wedding of Albert and Rebecca who got married in Nerul church through Syrian Christian customs followed by a grand reception at the CIDCO exhibition center. So most of our clients are predominantly the couple who first get in touch with us. But of late we are finding that parents are now increasingly getting in touch with us, which is a testimony of the paradigm shift which is taking place in Wedding Photography. These days parents are increasingly understanding the value of good photography and are ready to get the best for their children’s wedding. In this case as Albert works in UK with Apple Inc, his dad was in constant touch with us and brought us on-board.

Albert hails from Mumbai while Rebecca is from Chennai. Their wedding took place in Nerul church atop the hill in Navi Mumbai. You will get to see the story of the day unfolded more through the groom’s side as we were hired to do so. We love covering Christian Wedding as they are not so hectic in their schedule and are really fun and have a lot of character to them.  Will now let the photographs tell the story.

Two States Wedding

Two States Wedding

Two States Wedding

One wedding that instantly comes to my mind whenever someone mentions the Two States movie is of Shruti and Ankit. While their families came from two different cultures, they mingled with each other very well without the usual shenanigans . While the bride was a Tamil Brahmin the groom hailed from Gujrat. They had a four day celebration in western suburbs with Sangeet, Mehandi, Wedding and Reception on all separate days. Just like the Two states movie the wedding venue was a temple in Dahisar, Vithal Rukhumai Mandir. A modern multi-story temple with its own banquet albeit not an ancient one with granite pillars.

Their functions kick-started with  Sangeet function in an open lawn setup which was full of enthralling and fun-filled performances. The photographs certainly do a better job of describing the excitement of the day. Shruti wore kurta styled lehanga designed by her friend Namrata who was a fashion designer while Ankit wore a sherwani.

The wedding day started early in the morning. While the bride started to get ready at 6 am, the baraat started at Ankit’s house at 6.30 am and the baraat reached the venue by 7.30 am. Ankit and Shruthi got married by both Tamilian and Gujrati traditions. For her Tamil wedding, the bride wore a pure silk Kanjivaram saree and accessorized her look with a stern gold Kamarbandh and multi-strand gold maathapatti patterned with beads. Ankit wore a traditional South-Indian groom’s outfit, a white dhoti and angavastram and complimented Shruti perfectly. Their wedding was full of traditional ceremonies, one of which included, the “Oonjal”, in which the couple are made to sit on a swing which is rocked gently. The swing’s oscillating motion is a message to the couple that they must stay strong together during both, the challenges and the joys of life.

The most emotional part of this delightful marriage was the Kannika Dhanam. An emotional wedding ritual practiced in South Indian culture, in which the father of the bride gives away his beloved daughter to the groom. Every stunning photograph taken at this wedding speaks of the efforts we put to nail the lighting and bring out the story. We wanted to give it a warm tone which was difficult considering the bad lighting in the hall. So we got cinema lights and bounced them from the ceiling at every corner and that did the trick.

Let’s have a look at a few of their precious moments captured so perfectly!  Let us start with the wedding day.

North Indian Destination wedding in Bhopal

North Indian Destination wedding in Bhopal

North Indian Destination wedding in Bhopal

On May 18, 2016 Arpit and Trisha celebrated their first wedding anniversary and 7 years of togetherness. A milestone which took them 6 years, 5 days and 63320 kilometres. Let’s revisit their wedding and share their happiness of the momentous day.
Arpit & Trisha met when Trisha started her college where Arpit was a senior in 3rd year of engineering. Not the typical love at first sight, it took Trisha a bit to warm up to Arpit’s charm. Him being a senior also meant that they had to be in a long distance relationship for a period of almost 4 years. But as they say, love conquers all and here they are happily married and still going strong! Arpit is my senior from college, he first hired us to shoot his brother’s wedding and almost after a year when his time came we again got the opportunity. On the other hand Trisha is my junior from college and  my friend. We became friends when she initially had interest in photography and had joined the Photography Club at BITS Pilani. It was on her recommendation we got Arpit’s brother’s wedding in the first place.

Members of Arpit’s family live in different parts of the world. Weddings in family brings all of them together. Their family footprint is in Iraq, India, Sweden and US. This is the second wedding in the family happening from Bhopal, Arpit’s maternal home. Weddings are not just about the bride and groom, they have so much importance for everyone. Each wedding brings together the entire family and it is pure bliss to get married in their presence. While Arpit set up camp at his grandparent’s bunglow in Bhopal, Trisha and her relatives were staying in a hotel. Their wedding celebrations lasted for 3 full days. Like a typical M.P wedding they had Tilak, Haldi, Sangeet cum cocktail function and Reception cum wedding at Sayaji Hotel, Bhopal.
